Faridabad Navchetna Trust organizes ‘The Largest Plantation’ drive in the country

–          More than 20,000 volunteers plant 2,00,000 trees within 3 hours in a single day under the leadership of Sh. VipulGoel, MLA, Faridabad
–          A feat that has registered Haryana into the Limca Book of Records!

July 25, 2015: In what is yet another moment of pride for the city of Faridabad, the Faridabad Navchetna Trust conducted ‘The Largest Plantation’ drive in the city under the chairmanship of Sh. VipulGoel, MLA Faridabad. The drive was supported by District Administration, Faridabad and Dept. of Forest, Govt. of Haryana. After installation of the world’s “Tallest Tiranga” in Faridabad, the Trust organized the “Ek Din Go Green” campaign today at the road between HUDA office in Sector 12, Faridabad and Open Air Theatre and on the road between Town Park and Khel Parisar, Sector 12, Faridabad.

In one of ‘The Largest Plantation’ drive in India, around 20,000 citizen volunteers planted two lakh plants in three hours in a single day – registering Haryana in the Limca book of records!

This momentous occasion was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, along with a host of other senior dignitaries including Dr Anil Jain, National General Secretary &Incharge-Haryana, BJP; Shri Krishan Pal Gujjar, MoS, Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India; Captain Abhimanyu Singh Sindhu, Minister of Environment, Government of Haryana; Rao Narbir Singh, Minister of PWD (B&R) and Public Health Engineering, Government of Haryana; Sh. SubhashBarala, President, Haryana BJP among others. They took the green pledge amidst a ‘Green Carnival’—the day when trees were planted at Schools, Homes, Offices, Roads, IMT, Green Belts and just about any patch where trees can be grown and nurtured.

Schools, colleges and institutions across the city participated in huge numbers in the ‘Ek Din-Go Green’ campaign. Citizens across the city voluntarily adopted a tree and pledged to nurture the trees throughout their life.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. VipulGoel reiterated: “Faridabad, has now been given the status of a smart city. Living up to this status, it is imperative that we all take on the collective responsibility of making it pollution free! I urge each one of you to fulfill your responsibility towards the city and thank the people of Haryana for volunteering to adopt a tree and for pledging to nurture these plants forever”. He also thanked the District Administration, HUDA, MCF, Forest Department, Govt. of Haryana for supporting this initiative.

Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar planted a Rudraksh tree at the venue. While inaugurating the RudrakshVatika at Town Park, the CM also took a Selfie with ‘The Tallest Tiranga’. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble CM of Haryana said: “I am really happy to note that the Faridabad Navchetna Trust has been carrying forward so many social initiatives for the benefit of the citizens of Haryana and is living up to its commitment of creating modern amenities in the Faridabad District and establishing the District as a model hub of Haryana”. The CM also announced an award of Rs. 5 lac for the students of Aggarwal Govt. Girls School for their skit of female foeticide. The school principal donated Rs. 4 lac from this to the Girl Child fund.

Under ‘The Largest Plantation’ drive, the Faridabad Navchetna Trust also conducted a Green Carnival which was an explosion of colours, music, creativity, magic, fun, food, drinks and the most important trees. The carnival was an integral part of ‘The Largest Plantation’ drive to make Faridabad green and a happier place to live. While the carnival took place, 2 lakh trees were planted in Faridabad making the city green and healthy. Captain Abhimanyu Singh emphasized the need for “increasing the tree cover in Faridabad to counter global warming, climate change and melting of glaciers.”

Schools, colleges and institutions across the city participated in huge numbers in the ‘Green Carnival’. The Green Carnival was an eclectic mix of cultural and fun sessions for people of all age groups. Around 40 institutions/corporates of Haryana displayed their tableaus at the venue. More than 6000 students from schools across the city participated in a series of cultural presentations, informed Sh. VipulGoel. Mr. V. V. R. Murthy, Marketing Manager, Limca Book of World Records announced that a world record for ‘The Largest Plantation’ was indeed made by the city of Faridabad today.

The all-time favourite cartoon of children, Doraemon- the robotic cat catched the fancy of all the children present at the venue. Street magician, cartoons, roof walking, face painting and tattoos were the star attractions for the young audiences.  Nashik Dhol performance from Maharashtra, Haryanvi Dhol, Rajasthani Troupe, Jugglers, Bhangra, Rock band and colourful Dance performances enthralled the audiences. Noted music composer SachinJigar played his musical renditions at the event. Students from all Manav Rachna International Schools took out a Green Parade on the occasion. These students will be making a colourful depiction of the country’s flora & fauna, endangered species, pollution, marine life, energy conservation, and 3R’s i.e. reduce, re-use & recycle.

Sh. Vipul Goel also informed that a Rudraksh Vatika has been incorporated in the Town Park as one of the many initiatives under ‘The Largest Plantation’.

Green, it is obvious, is the colour of the season and Faridabad Navchetna Trust has gone all out to make that a reality!
